2000년 3월에 출범하였던 연세대학교 생명과학기술연구원은 그 동안 BT연구단 및 교내의 생명과학 관련 여러 연구기관들과 함께 매년 “New Challenges in the Post-Genome Era”라는 주제로 교내 공동학술행사를 가진 바 있습니다. 이와 같은 행사를 통하여 우리는 급속히 발전하고 있는 생명과학 분야의 새롭고도 다양한 연구 결과를 접할 수 있었음은 물론, 교내 연구 인력 간의 연구 정보 파악을 통한 공동연구과제 도출 등 많은 열매를 맺을 수 있었습니다.

이제 일곱 번째를 맞는 이번 공동심포지움에서는 이전의 광범위하였던 주제를 많은 사람들이 관심을 가지고 있고 우리들이 잘 하고 있는 분야 중의 하나인 인간의 질병으로 집중화하여 “Revealing Molecular Networks in Human Diseases"라는 주제로 행사를 하고자 합니다. 이 행사에는 우리 대학교의 교육부의생명특성화사업단과 Global 5-5-10 연세 의생명특성화사업단, 그리고 혈관유전체학연구실과 퇴행성뇌질환단백응집연구실, 연골세포기능제어연구실, 분자당생물학연구실 등 네 개의 국가지정연구실(NRL)이 참여하고 있습니다.

여러 가지로 바쁘신 줄 아오나 부디 참석하시어 인체질병 분야에서 활발한 활동을 하고 있는 열두 분 국내외 연사들의 귀한 연구 결과에 대한 토론과 함께 우리 대학의 생명과학 분야를 보다 더 발전시킬 수 있는 고견도 들려주시기를 기원합니다.
