교회사는 예수 시대부터 현재에 이르기까지 기독교 사상과 실천의 발전을 추적하는 학문입니다. 에큐메니컬한 관점에서, 서로 다른 시대와 장소에서 기독교인들이 어떻게 신앙을 실천하려 했는지, 그리고 그 신앙이 어떻게 다양한 역사적 상황에 의해 형성되었는지를 묻습니다. 기독교를 역사적으로 이해함으로써, 오늘날과 미래 세계에서 기독교인의 상태에 대한 성찰을 돕고자 합니다.

 

연세대학교 교회사 프로그램은 다음과 같은 분야에서 교수진의 강점을 보유하고 있습니다:

교회사 전공 대학원생들은 기독교 역사에 대해 비판적이고 건설적으로 사고하는 방법을 배우는 동시에 학술 연구와 글쓰기의 기초를 익히게 됩니다. 한국 기독교 역사 학습 외에도, 학생들은 위 교수진의 강점 분야와 연계된 추가 역사적 연구 주제를 개발하도록 권장됩니다.

2. 1. 언어 훈련은 기독교 역사 연구의 중요한 부분입니다. 따라서 교회 역사 프로그램 지원자는 지원서에 읽기, 쓰기 및 말하기가 가능한 언어를 명시할 것을 권장합니다.

4. 2. 교회사 연구에는 역사적(1차) 자료와 학술적(2차) 자료 모두를 활용할 수 있는 능력이 필수적입니다. 따라서 지원자는 역사적 자료와 학술적 자료를 바탕으로 논증을 구성할 수 있는 능력을 보여주는 최소 10페이지 분량의 글쓰기 샘플(박사 과정 지원자의 경우 20페이지)을 포함할 것을 권장합니다.

 

 

 

 

The discipline of Church History traces the development of Christian thought and practice from the time of Jesus up to the present day. Ecumenical in scope, it asks how Christians in different times and places have sought to practice their faith, and how that faith has in turn been shaped by their diverse historical circumstances. Through understanding Christianity historically, it seeks to aid reflection on the state of Christians in the world today and in the future.

 

At Yonsei, the Church History program has faculty strengths in the following areas:

• •  History of Korean Christianity
• •  History of the Early Church
• •  Patristic Literature (Latin, Greek, and Syriac)
• •  Christian Missions in Asia
• •  Christian Monasticism

 

Graduate students in Church History learn how to think critically and constructively about Christian history, while also being introduced to the fundamentals of academic research and writing. In addition to learning about the history of Korean Christianity, students are encouraged to cultivate an additional historical focus that aligns with the faculty strengths above.

 

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

1. Linguistic training is an important part of historical research on Christianity. Therefore, applicants to the Church History program are encouraged to specify in their applications which languages they are able to read, write, and/or speak.

2. 2. The ability to work with both historical (primary) and scholarly (secondary) sources is essential for Church History. Therefore, applicants are encouraged to include a writing sample of at least 10 pages (20 pages for doctoral applicants) demonstrating their ability to construct an argument based on both historical and scholarly sources.
