2023학년도 1학기 S/U평가 신청 및 S/U평가 가능 교과목 안내드립니다.

가. 신청기간: 2023. 5. 2.(화) 9:00 ~ 5. 4.(목) 17:00

나. 신청방법: 연세포탈 > 학사시스템 > 학사행정 > 성적 > [학부]S/U평가신청및조회

다. 신청자격: 제1전공이 승인된 학부생(의/치과대학 소속 제외)

라. 신청허용 한도: 학기당 6학점 이내, 재학 중 총 18학점 이내

마. 교과목 제한

: 소속학과(2전공/연계전공/융합심화전공 포함) 외의 2천단위 이상 타전공 과목 중

1) 교양(전공-교양 교차인정교과목 포함), 교직(TTP), 현장실습, P/NP평가 과목, 대학원 교과목 제외

2) 대학 공통 개설교과목은 소속 대학 학생들 신청 불가

3) 기타 소속 학과에서 신청 불가로 결정한 타전공 교과목 제외

바. 유의사항

1) S/U평가를 선택하여 C-이하 성적을 받은 교과목은 U로 등재하며 취득학점을 인정하지 않음(졸업학점에 포함되지 않음)

2) S/U평가로 이수한 교과목은 교직이수요건(교직 및 전공 기본이수과목)으로 인정불가

3) S/U평가를 선택한 교과목은 (최)우등상/우수상 수상기준 학점 산정 시 제외

4) S/U평가 과목에서 U의 성적을 받은 자는 해당학기 (최)우등상/우수상 대상에서 제외

5) S/U평가를 선택한 교과목이라도 한국장학재단 장학금 산정 시 Letter Grade 성적(원성적)으로 반영

6) S/U평가 신청기간 이후 어떠한 사유로도 변경/취소 불가

7) 첨부한 「학생선택에 따른 SU평가제도 안내문」을 반드시 확인하시고 신청하시기 바랍니다.

S/U (Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory) Evaluation according to Student Selection

1. Purpose of the S/U evaluation

a. Students can choose to be evaluated based on S/U evaluation within a limitedrange of courses originally evaluated with letter grades. However, the S/U scoreis not reflected in the GPA.

b. To incentivize students to take challenging courses offered in the disciplinesother than their own majors by lowering the burden on grades

c. To promote interdisciplinary exchanges and to foster convergent observationaland thinking skills by creating an atmosphere in which students in humanities,social studies, science and engineering fields can freely take courses offered byother departments without putting a burden on their grades

2. Allowable range for S/U evaluation

a. Allowed range: within 6 credits per semester, within a total of 18 credits duringenrolment

b. Course restrictions: allowed only when students approved for the first majortake courses from departments other than their affiliated department (includingtheir second major, concentration major and interdisciplinary majors). (Allowedonly for major courses with weight 2000 or more)

c. University College Courses, Field-trip Courses, P/NP Evaluation Courses,Graduate School Courses are excluded.

d. Common Courses of individual College/Department are not applicable to thestudent of the same College/Department.E.g. A student of College of Engineering cannot apply for S/U evaluation fora common course of College of Engineering.

e. Teacher Training Courses are not applicable to S/U Evaluation.* Courses completed by S/U evaluation cannot be acknowledged as TeacherTraining courses.E.g. If a student who is completing the teacher training program in earthscience selects the S/U evaluation for , it cannot be acknowledged as a basic course for teacher trainingprogram.

f. Other major courses stated as ‘inapplicable’ by individual Majors/Departments.

3. S/U evaluation criteria

a. For courses with grades of C0 or higher (C0~A+), register as S when grades are registered

b. Courses with a grade of C- or lower are listed as U, and credits are notrecognized as earned credits.

c. Letter grades are considered for evaluation, but only S/U is registered

4. Restrictions for selecting the S/U evaluation

a. Courses selected for S/U evaluation are excluded when calculating the criteriafor receiving the highest/high honor roll.

     i. Students with less than 15 credits per semester after excluding thecourses with S/U evaluation are not eligible for the highest/high honorroll for the relevant semester.

     ii. Students who received a U grade in the S/U evaluation courses are noteligible for the highest/high honor roll for the relevant semester.

b. Courses Grade selected for S/U evaluation are reflected as original letter gradeswhen screening Korea Student Aid Foundation scholarships.

c. Courses Grades selected for S/U evaluation are reflected as S/U grades whenscreening on-campus/off-campus scholarships.

5. Eligibility, application period and method for S/U evaluation

a. Sinchon/International Campus undergraduate students with their first majordeclared (excluding students from the College of Medicine/Dentistry)

b. 2023. 5. 2.(Tue) 9:00 ~ 5. 4.(Thu) 17:00※ Courses opened during the winter and summer sessions are not applicablefor S/U evaluation

c. Go to Yonsei Portal (http://portal.yonsei.ac.kr/ → Log in → AcademicInformation System → Academic Information → Grades → S/U evaluationapplication)

6. Notes

a. Change/cancellation is not allowed after the S/U evaluation application period

b. In case of re-taking a course completed through S/U assessment, courserepetition is allowed four times maximum and credits will be cancelled and willbe evaluated based on letter grades (Students may also apply for S/U assessmentfor the retaking courses)

c. Application for S/U evaluation is possible when re-taking courses completed in letter grades
