Last semester, Yonsei GSIS’s Career Development Center organized a series of insightful Career Talks, Leadership Lectures, Workshops, and Panel discussions that provided valuable opportunities for Yonsei GSIS students to grow, learn, and network. Here is a recollection of some of these impactful events: 

September 13: 2023 Fall Career Workshop by Professor Namuh Rhee, CDC Senior Advisor. Professor Rhee gave a workshop on career planning, resume writing, the power of LinkedIn, and interview skills.

September 20: CDC Internship Panel Discussion - Public Sector by current GSIS students who recently finished their internships in the public sector. Haewon Son, Yeun Jun Kim, Woo Young Lee, Erin Mei Tiedemann, Erin Underwood, and Jung Ho Chun (Helen) gave insights and advice to students in a session moderated by Professor Namuh Rhee, CDC Senior Advisor.

September 27: CDC Internship Panel Discussion - Private Sector by current GSIS students who recently finished their internships in the private sector. Wenhuan Liu, Mason Kain He, Kamilla Alimbayeva, and A. Aryo Wisnuwardhana gave insights and advice to students in a session moderated by Professor Namuh Rhee, CDC Senior Advisor.

October 6: Alumni Career Talk on Prospects of Electric Vehicle Charging by Yoonjin Kang (PIC, Class of 2018), an Assistant Manager at Hanwha Qcells. 

October 11: Leadership Lecture on “What You Need to Know about Each Recruitment Process: Perspectives from a Corporate HR” by Professor Mira Lee, a former MD at General Electric. Professor Lee’s lecture covered topics including CV screening, interviews, references, and background checks that are beneficial for prospective job applicants.

November 8: Leadership Lecture on “The Outlook for Offshore Wind Market: A Key Factor of Energy Transition in Korea” by Jungmin Lim, a Yonsei Alumni with 20 years of experience in the financial industry. Jungmin’s comprehensive expertise shed light on the pivotal role of the Offshore wind market in Korea’s energy sector and offered attendees a deeper understanding of its significance and the potential impact of the country’s transition to it. 

November 15: Alumni Career Talk on International Business Development by Cyril Aarts (Class of ‘22), a Business Development Manager at Aexus. This session provided valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities of navigating the global market, drawing from Cyril’s experience. 

November 16: A Leadership & Digital Trade Seminar on the Global Semiconductor Industry. With the attendance of prominent speakers Professor Seok Joon Kwon and Dr. Wonho Yeon, this event was an enlightening experience for all attendees.
