March has come and gone, leaving behind unforgettable experiences within the GSIS community! Let's take a moment to recap the highlights of this month and unfold the memories created along the way.

From Strangers to Friends

Just a few days before the start of the new Spring Semester, the Graduate Students Association (GSA) welcomed its first campus tour event for all the first semester students.

The students first gathered at the main gate and explored the campus with 1-2 leaders for each group. The campus tour brought additional insights for each stop, including the Student Union, Main Library, Gymnasium, Swimming Pool, Auditorium, and some interesting facts about the history of those locations. After the tour, the students headed to New Millenium Hall for their final stop and were given a quiz to test their knowledge and the missions.

GSIS Club Fair

On March 6, the GSIS clubs and organizations welcomed the students this new semester with great opportunities to be active on campus. The event had student associations and clubs like the Human Rights Hub, Global Business Hub, GSIS Newsletter, NOVASIA, Iyagi Hour, the Yonsei Journal for International Studies, and Yonsei GSA.

The fair began at 12:00 p.m., and students slowly started to check out and join organizations that interested them. The organizations provided a variety of activities and content – language, culture, social, business-oriented, media, writing, etc. This spring semester is packed with upcoming events for students to join and enjoy their graduate student life.

Speed Friend Making

The following week, more students would gather on campus for a socializing event. Traditionally held at the beginning of every semester, many first-semester students show up and get to know each other more.

Compared to discussing a variety of topics, this semester's Speed Friend Making event saw a shift in activities - starting with a quick Bingo as an Icebreaker and proceeding to different game stations such as Charades, 딸기 게임(Strawberry game), 33, and more. What a great way to learn a mix of Korean games and blast with new friends!

Extra-Curricular Activities

Besides the Club Fair and GSA events, there were also activities from other student-run associations and clubs. KSC(Korean Studies Council) started the semester with a new team and an orientation for all the returning and new students majoring in Korean Studies. Afterward, they proceeded with a Tea Time event where students got the opportunity to meet the chair of the Korean Studies department and had a relaxing session about what to look forward to this semester.

Iyagi Hour held its first meeting on March 7 and saw many returning and new members this semester. There was also a small surprise: the founder of Iyagi Hour from the US visited Seoul, attended the first meetings, and had the opportunity to learn how activities are planned at Iyagi Hour Yonsei.

Iyagi Hour aims to continue with more fun discussion topics and new games (pictionary, restaurant ordering game) so that students can practice their language skills and provide a chill atmosphere for all students.

Please look forward to upcoming events from many GSIS organizations in the following weeks!
